I'm not sure what the story is. They catholic sister's arrived by boat many years ago. They started hospitals and schools and universities.
This statue is right on the water in downtown Dumaguete City. Celine lives about 10 miles north in the small town of Amlan.
They travel by jeepney, bus or motorbike to Dumaguete for most things like major shopping or banking.
